The primary focus and purpose of this course is to improve interpretation of body imaging studies by radiologists. This will be achieved by providing an updated review of evidence-based practice with particular emphasis on:
* Novel and emerging technologies such as CT colonoscopy, coronary CT, and PET/CT;
* Important and topical patient safety issues such as nephrogenic systemic fibrosis, radiation risk, imaging of pregnant patients, and safe administration of intravascular contrast media;
* Improved patient care and safety as related to radiology by enhancing physician awareness of body imaging pitfalls that may result in misinterpretation or malpractice litigation.
Upon completion of this course, attendees should be able to:
1. Interpret body imaging studies with greater accuracy;
2. Perform body imaging studies in a safer and more streamlined fashion;
3. Practice safe and optimal use of intravascular contrast media;
4. Recognize pitfalls in body imaging to avoid malpractice litigation.
